It has written a crime


The truth is that The Raven Remastered was not a game that was on my radar for two reasons; the first, because being aware of all the remasters that come to market today, some almost by surprise, is practically impossible; and two, the genre of the graphic adventures of the type "Point and Click" are nowadays a "rara avis" .


The Raven - The legacy of Master Thief has undergone the relevant aesthetic wash, go have made him handsome with this remastering. The game of King Art Games, is a graphic adventure of classic style as we said that appeared in 2013 on PC and the consoles of that time Ps3 and 360. But before delving into the game and its conversion, it is convenient to go into the context.


At that time the genre lived a small upturn although it was still something almost anecdotal; even the figure of Telltale games did not have the current importance and although it had released several interesting titles like the one based on the license of Jurassic Park in 2011 and had already tasted the honeys of success with the first episode of The Walking Dead, not yet it had been constituted as a reference in the games of graphic adventures, and it had not changed, so to speak, the genre as it ended up doing later with the refinement of the formula (The Wolf amount us or the game about the franchise of Game of thrones).
Classic and more classic


The Raven Remastered is an old-fashioned game that we can catalog pre-Telltale Games, here the Quick Time Event, and our phrases and decisions are not paramount . If it is instead the exploration of the scenarios, the good use of the inventory and our ingenuity / logic.


This old approach gives us a leisurely adventure with some easy puzzles but that will require our predisposition. It is true that it does not have that implication or the intensity of the peak moments that Telltale Games knows how to move, but this linear story that is told to us is still entertaining. Because yes, in fact the script of this "movie" is the basis of our satisfaction and entertainment, because we are only the key to the doors but we can not vary the final result.

Continuing with this, we have to notice some clear influences from Agatha Christie's novels ; We will be in Cairo and also in the famed Orient Express, so the references can not be clearer. To his credit, it must be said that while it has the essence of the novelist, finally the paths traveled by the story are very different. They are more than winks, yes, but they are not a carbon copy either. So, for one reason or another, the game kept us intrigued at all times, at least enough to keep us from apathy.

Aesthetic retouch

The retoquitos are the order of the day. I still consider myself somewhat young for it but I do not discard them, just as I can not say that remastering is a bad practice. It is true that their number has grown rapidly and sometimes unjustifiably, but this remastering I see only as a new opportunity to enjoy a title that if not for the update would be in a remote place and practically in oblivion. The graphic sections of this type of adventure have never been the highlight, and the truth is, the game edited by THQ Nordic neither shines in this; the visual improvements do not go much beyond the resolution and some textures have fled, escaping the improvement, that coupled with a routine artistic style do not make the game precisely something beautiful. It is true that some moments and in some scenarios will positively draw our attention, but very occasionally and as long as the camera does not come to the fore. Although honestly in a game of this style the importance of this comment is very relative and I personally was not any impediment to enjoy it.


Conclusion of The Raven Remastered

In short , an adventure with all the classic flavor possible both playable and narrative level, where you will enjoy as long as you forgive the little visual brilliance and its slow pace . A title that meets exactly where you have to do and remember, brings voices in English with subtitles in Spanish and you can get it by digital download. What has been said, a good example of the "Point and Click" genre.
